The Challenger Group, Inc. (dba “ChallengerSoft”) was originally founded as a custom software development company, in 1988. Today, we are committed to bringing leading-edge web-based applications to the health case management market, combining innovative software engineering with professional client services.

The company leadership team with their unique combination of skills is focused on delivering high-tech industry standard products to a growing customer base. With installations throughout the US, ChallengerSoft takes pride in deploying Software as a Service that exceeds our client expectations. Product stability and ease of deployment are hallmarks of the CS-PRIME product suite. Customer service is second to none with a professional US-based Client Services team providing a full range of implementation and support activities. These include; consulting services, outsourcing, onsite and online training, help desk and application support.

Our application software is built on the latest web application and server technologies from Microsoft, and hosts the software in a secure HIPAA-compliant environment in one of the leading datacenters. ChallengerSoft is a privately held Texas company with corporate offices in Frisco, TX.

Our Leadership Team

  • Mr. Barron is currently President and CEO of ChallengerSoft, a position he has held since 2004. Prior to ChallengerSoft, he was a founder of MDSERVE, a healthcare information systems company. Prior to establishing his own businesses, Mr. Barron enjoyed a successful corporate IT career in both in the US and the UK. Mr. Barron graduated with honors in Mathematics from the University of Aberdeen, and holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.    

  • Michele Spainhower has 15 years of experience working in Maternal and Child Health and a Federally Funded Healthy Start program. She managed the Maternal Child Health State Title V grant, was a member of the State Maternal Child Health Coalition, and worked to improve collaboration between local MCH programs and State Title V. Similarities in desired outcomes allowed for blending of State Title V and the Federal Healthy Start program. Michele worked with Healthy Start participants through case management, health education, consumer leadership development, and community relationship building. As a Healthy Start Project Manager with 16 staff, she managed staff development, program implementation, created and managed program budgets, and was responsible for managing program data, grant reporting, and grant writing. Michele was also part of many community groups and organizations in her role(s) with the program.

    In her current role, as VP Client Services for ChallengerSoft, Michele brings her programmatic knowledge to play, to ensure clients are satisfied with the CS Prime system and the user experience. She provides guidance on product management with an emphasis on creating standards based on best practice models. Michele also provides client training and implementation planning. She also works daily with clients to improve their CS Prime software and data collection experience. She provides customer support and training by phone, email, and in person. She helps clients translate current services into sound data collection practices through use of CS Prime and system data management tools. Michele also continues to serve on her local Healthy Start CAN and is involved with the early childhood community to stay abreast of best practices, concerns, and issues within the MCH community. 

  • Mr. Harris brings over 22 years of professional software development and project management experience to ChallengerSoft, leading the company's technical strategy and efforts. Mr. Harris has a B.S. Computer Science from Kennesaw State University, and an M.S. Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology, and has been certified in various Microsoft technologies and project management methodologies.
